Hej! (Guess in the comments below which language that is... No Google!) Here is yet another blog post, this time covering Saturday and Sunday. Guess where we went! Drumroll pls....... Charters Towers!!!!
Saturday
Ok, so this Saturday, we had to get up really really early. And I mean crazy o'clock early. Like, we had to get up at 6.30AM! Crazy right? Plus, it was windy and cold, making us want to stay in bed. Anyways, after getting up, we got right into packing up, and ended up leaving the campsite at 9 o'clock! Our earliest time yet. It probably made a big difference the fact that we packed our suitcases in the car the night before as well as packed up mine and Christopher's room. (We just moved into the main room for the night) The travelling was uneventful, however seemed really long! We stopped several times to stretch our legs, and we stopped at a really nice beach in Cardwell to have lunch. It was really beautiful, and a great place where we could sit in the sun (it was cold!) and have a nice view while eating lunch. We then kept driving... well, Dad kept driving, and I listened to a couple podcasts, and we listened to another sermon about Biblical Courtship, this one about the child's responsibility to the parents. It was really good! Once we arrived at Charters Towers (Which is really in the country!) we set up reasonably quickly. I believe it took about 1hr and 39 minutes... roughly. So not too bad, especially since we were all feeling a bit whatever after being in the car for so long. After setting up, we went to a fish and chip place and had barramundi (which was really nice) and also some (really great) chips! We went to Maccas for some dessert, and then headed back and went to bed. We were all really tired!
Sunday
Ok, so I am finally up to date! (Ok nearly...) Today, we went to church! We went to Charters Towers Baptist Church, and it was a really small church (smaller than ours) and had an older demographic. Still, it was really nice and the worship consisted of hymns which weren't too hard to get the hang of. After church and some fellowship, we headed to Ravenswood, a nearby (an hours drive away) heritage listed town. It was really small, with a population of about 250 people. It had a couple pubs/hotels and a post office/convenience store/fuel station. It was really nice though, and the couple shops were really quaint. There was a lot of historical significance in all of the buildings, and it was a gold mining town. We went to an old courthouse, (which included a jail) an ambulance station (which ended up being closed) and also one of the pubs which had a lot of history in it. The owner had a lot of antiques in there, and the guy who was running it (all by himself: the free camping out the back, the food, the bar, and the accommodation part of the hotel) was really nice and gave us a tour and everything! Then we got hot chips from there and they were amazing, while Mum and Dad played around with the jukebox playing oldies like Bon Jovi and Abba. And then we went to this place called White Blow, which was a huge deposit of quartz that you could climb over. Dad and Christopher climbed to the top, and I attempted but the combination of thongs and fear of heights trying to climb up a rock face was not a great idea. Not that it was too bad, but I didn't want to do it. 😄 We got some really cool photos around it and of it, and it was definitely worth the slight detour. Then we headed back home, and then had a relaxing night. At least, I'm hoping we did because I'm writing this before dinner 🤣
