21st & 22nd June (Week 10) - Yarraman (Near Kingaroy)

Hi everyone! This blog post will cover Wednesday and Thursday of our *sniff* last week travelling!

Wednesday

On Wednesday, we packed up from Roma, and headed towards Yarraman, which is about 30mins out of Kingaroy. We ended up getting a cabin there, instead of camping so that we could have a few days off. So, this morning, we packed up for the last time this trip! (Definitely not excited about that 🙄Haha just kidding!) We drove to Yarraman, with a brief stop in Miles where we had a lesson to join in for History, as well as stopping at the Heritage centre for souvenirs, as well as a stop in a place where none of us can remember, except that it was outside Chinchilla and was the home of real burgers and cooked chicken (pls comment if you know where this is! Never mind, it was Brigalow! Dad googled it🤣) After a couple more hours of driving, we ended up in Yarraman, and the cabin that we are currently staying at is quite small, however spacious enough that we are very comfortable. To be honest, it is very weird to be sitting on proper chairs and eating dinner around a table. After arriving and bringing our bags and fridges into the cabin (some people bring their kitchen sink, but we brought our fridge) I have finished up the last of my assignments for this term (I am officially done school!... for this term) and then was catching up with blog posts. We have just finished a lovely dinner and had a video call with my sister Rianna and her son Jesse, and now I am writing the last part of this post. Hopefully tonight I will do some watching! Adios for tonight!

Thursday

On Thursday (today) we had a bit of a sleep in, and then headed up to the Bunya Mountains, which is about an hours drive away from Yarraman, where we are staying. We did a slight detour to a place called Coombar Falls, which was a beautiful waterfall where there was a large lake at the bottom. No one else was there apart from Mum, Dad, Christopher and I, and it was just so peaceful. We got some gorgeous photos there (see attached) and after that, we drove to the Bunya Mountains. We did a 4km walk there, which was really nice, however towards the end the last kilometre seemed like it took ages. Then again, maybe it did, as we were stopping often to take photos or to rest 🤣 After the walk we went to Poppy's cafe, where we had an amazing lunch of meat pies and a sausage roll. There were lots of birds there, and because they were used to being fed, I was scared to death to having one go on my head when Mum opened the bird feed packet. We fed them for a while as we were waiting for lunch and at one point Mum had 4 birds on her, Dad had 3 birds on him, and I had 3 birds as well. (I'm not sure how many Christopher had at one point...) Not at the same time however. They varied from being on our shoulders, heads, arms and hands. After lunch I fed the birds again, however one type of parrot kept biting my fingers! And the same birds drew blood on Mum's fingers as well! But we recovered XD. We looked around a couple of shops, and then headed back to the cabin the 'tourist way'. We looked around the Yarraman town a bit as well, however most things were closed. We were able to go to one of the local butchers however, and I got some jerky and Mum and Dad got some steak. And then we came back and relaxed for the afternoon. Christopher and Dad did another foresty touristy drive, and then we had dinner and I am currently writing this blog! Not long till we are back home!!!
