Hi! These are the blog posts for Saturday and Sunday. Sorry no photos, because nowhere that we went was very picture worthy (plus I think I forgot 🙄)
Saturday
Today, we packed up in record time, driving out of the campsite by 9.15. Plus, we actually packed up
the entire camper trailer first try! Normally it takes a few times in order to pack it properly. Fun fact,
the main factor in all of this was that Christopher wasn’t really able to do much after his accident on
Friday. Seems like Christopher will be getting Saturdays off if this is any indication of what we can do
without him…
After a long drive, and a short stop in Tully, which has one of the highest national yearly rainfalls in
Australia, we arrived in Cairns. After 4 weeks of travel, we reached our main destination. We had
initially booked in a popular campsite which was a 5 minute walk from Mum’s brother’s place,
however after deciding that there was definitely not enough room to be comfortable for two weeks,
we did a bit of research and changed to a place called Rainforest Retreat. Right up Dad’s alley it
seemed.
We set up the tent in twilight/dark and only did the basics. And then, we went to bed! And slept very
well I might add.
Sunday
Happy Mother’s Day! Thank you to all of the mothers who have and are creating the next
generation. You truly are amazing with all that you do. I pray that you were all as blessed as you
bless your family.
Today, after finishing our setting up (including the extra bedroom) we went to my Uncle Jon and Auntie Kolaiah's church. It was a really nice church service, and definitely gave me vibes of our church back home, Narangba Baptist Church. It was very Holy Spirit and Bible focused, and the worship songs were really good. They started off with a Brandon Lake song, and then did a couple new songs, and a couple we had heard before. All in all, it was a great service. *Me remembering it was Mother’s day on Sunday and adding it to the heading*
Afterwards, since it was Mother’s Day we went out for sushi for lunch, and then went to Barron
Gorge to eat it, with OMG gluten-free donuts for dessert. Afterwards, we relaxed at Crystal
Cascades, a place where we have gone pretty much every time we have gone to Cairns, and enjoyed
a quiet afternoon, spent reading (and in some cases) sleeping. We also did a video call with Rianna
and Jesse (my sister and nephew).
Once we got back to the campsite, Dad cooked dinner, and we did another video call with Benjamin
and Sarah (my brother and sister-in-law) and their guinea pig Squiggles also made a (very cute)
appearance. We then had a very yummy dinner, and watched a movie which me and Mum had
watched previously but then liked it so much we got the guys to watch it too. It is called Love and
Glamping. I would really recommend it (definitely not advertising here. Definitely did not get paid
$50 to add that in 🤣)
And then… we went to bed.
