Friday
So this Friday (apologies in advance because I am writing this a week after it happened so there might be some things I miss...) we went to (drumroll pls!) MAGNETIC ISLAND!!!
After an early morning, we set off towards Townsville city in order to get to the ferry place by 9ish (am). We arrived there with plenty of time to spare, and me and Dad even had time to play a game of beanbags. He won. ππ»♀️It was a heap of fun though, and once we had finished it was pretty much time to get on the ferry. The ferry to Magnetic Island was really big, holding probably around 30 cars plus walking passengers. It was about a 40-minute ferry ride, and it was reasonably smooth, however there were definitely choppy parts.
Once we had arrived, we pretty much hit the ground running. We drove up to Arthur Bay, where the guys did a 4km walk up to the Forts Lookout, and Mum and I did a 2km walk to the actual Arthur Bay, and sat on the beach for a bit, before returning to the carpark to wait for the guys. It turns out that a girl had sprained her ankle on the walk (even though she was wearing proper shoes and everything) so a man had to carry her down. I'm kinda glad I didn't go...
After the walk, we went to Horseshoe Bay, and had lunch. Funny story, a lady lost her keys at the toilet (and I walked in after her and found them) so then we went to find her to give them back. We found her, but as soon as we saw her, she hit the ground running back to the toilets. (This was a little ol lady mind you) We had to chase her back, and then fortunately we caught up to her at the toilets where she was looking for them. I was able to give them back thankfully, and it turns out that it was a hire car, and it seemed like that was the only key! I guess it's a good thing God was able to help me find her again π.
After Horseshoe bay, we went exploring down around the eastern part of Magnetic Island. We discovered the place where Joshua and Trish (My brother and sister in law) had worked on a YWAM property trying to restore it where ywammers could stay for debriefing after mission trips. We were able to have a look around while staying outside the boundaries (definitely looking sus, but anyways...).
We did more exploring around the western part of Magnetic Island and the majority of the road was 4-wheel drives only. The funny part was that there were houses down that road! Imagine learning to drive there... Let's just say it was very bumpy. The beach there was really nice, and the people living there had sand literally as their backyard.
We went back to Horseshoe Bay for dinner, and watched the beginnings of the sunset, and then we drove back to the ferry terminal where we got the ferry back home. And then we slept...
It was really amazing seeing the indescribable color of the seemingly never-ending water, and admiring God's creation. To think that God made every granule of sand...
