Saturday and Sunday (Week 1/2)- Yeppoon/Rockhampton

Hi Hi! Here is another update. Again, sorry about the late publishing, some of these posts were written a couple days ago. :) We will be trying to keep up to date, and I have just published several posts, so please scroll down and you can read them all (lots of photos included) Thanks again for reading!

Saturday

Saturday was pretty much spent packing up, travelling, and then setting up again at Rockhampton. Rather than going into the details of all of that, I will just say that we are getting quicker. When arriving at Shirlee’s Clydesdale Farm, we drove in seeing animals roaming around. We drove past a shed that had a sign out from “Toilets” but since it was just a very small shed, we thought “Na, it can’t be the toilets. Must just be an attraction” WRONG! It was the toilets and held only two toilets that had a shower in it. While fairly large cubicles, there were no female/male toilets, just unisex ones. We could put up with this… or so we thought. We only set up the basics, thinking that we wouldn’t want to set up everything (which takes a couple hours) and then pack up again if it didn’t work out. So instead, setting up only took an hour or so. Me and Dad had a walk around the farm, which was pretty small. They had Clydesdales, a goat (that ended up sniffing around our stuff, but then got put away to Mum’s relief) sheep (including an extremely cute lamb) as well as many dogs which were so cute. They had a couple dachshunds (one longhaired that was adorable) and a couple dalmatians. Me and Dad had a walk around the farm, and one time we looked behind us and saw that three sheep were following us! The sunset was really pretty there (See photos). That night, there were many mosquitos flying around, so after an hour or so of sitting outside swatting mosquitoes, I ended up going inside, and didn’t really go outside again that night. We found out the next day that the reason for the mosquitos was because we were right beside a swamp…

Sunday

On Sunday, I ended up getting a sleep in, and Mum, Dad and Christopher were already up by the time I was awake. (Emphasis on awake, not functioning) So, I got up, and we sat down, and discussed whether or not we were staying at the farm. That morning, when Mum had gone down to the bathrooms, she came out of the toilets, and at the sink there was….

A VERY LARGE HUNTSMAN. Apparently large than my hand (that’s not very big but still) it definitely gave Mum a large fright and made me more cautious when I went up to the bathrooms to get ready for the day.

So long story short, we ended up packing up again and leaving, not knowing where we would be staying. We went to Maccas for breakfast/lunch. While eating, we researched other sites and made several calls to different caravan parks and many were booked, most likely as a cause of Anzac day coming up (by the time I post this, it most likely will be “in the past”) But thank you God, we were able to find two places that could take a camper trailer, and ended up choosing a beautiful park that is about a 200m walk away from the beach. We set up (again) and are getting quicker as we only took- and I timed it- 1hr 52ish minutes. Later that afternoon, we took a walk down to the beach and got some really nice photos. And then… we slept.
